Wilderness
It is time to start again these morning poems,
the prayers that say yes to the day that’s crept
over my neighbor’s fence with its bag of sweet
light. I’ve written down a long dream like a faithful,
monk transcribing a gospel he doesn’t understand,
and I’m drinking coffee made in my bedside machine.
Time to leave comfort and follow my pen into the wilderness.
